Southwest Green Build

Who are we?

The Southwest Green Build Council (SWGBC) is affiliated with the National Green Building Certification Program and was established by members of the Southern Utah Home Builders Association. Throughout the year, we hold a series of workshops on green building topics, networking opportunities, membership meetings, educational forums and seminars, and sponsor Parade of Homes and exhibition opportunities. We were formally established in 2009.

What is Green Building?

The process of green building incorporates environmental considerations into every phase of the home building process. That means that the design, construction, and operation of a home, energy and water efficiency, lot development, resource efficient building design and materials, indoor environmental quality, homeowner maintenance, and the home’s overall impact on the environment are all taken into account.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Southwest Green Build Council encourages the voluntary development and construction of Green Certified Projects through education, communication, and advocacy of responsible green building practices.

PURPOSE:

The Southwest Green Build Council shall be an advocate in the community for promoting a heightened sense of responsibility in sustainable practices, striving to bring people together in this common purpose to improve the buildings that we live and work in for a better tomorrow.
